“Let There Be Rave”: Shane Gonzales Throws Down in an L.A. Warehouse
Midnight Rave is back. The event collective—an offshoot of Shane Gonzales’ clothing label Midnight Studios—was born of a love for rave culture shared by the 22-year-old designer and A$AP Rocky, and has been organizing warehouse parties in the depths of Los Angeles since 2017. The gatherings, originally born of Gonzales’ admiration for the ’90s nightlife scene that inspired his punk-inflected streetwear designs, have since become something of a staple for insiders in L.A.’s nightlife circuit. Last Friday’s Midnight Rave was also the official afterparty to mark the beginning of Rolling Loud, and featured sets from the likes of Zack Bia, Siobhan Bell, and Gonzales himself. Below, the designer-turned-DJ offers us a glimpse inside Midnight Rave.
