Boiler Room’s Amar Ediriwira Made Us a Kind Of Fashion Week Playlist

This is SOUND ADVICE, a weekly destination for playlists curated by Interview’s friends, enemies, and lovers. Over the past few weeks, we’ve gathered playlists from Sophie Thatcher, Patch+, and our very own Mel Ottenberg. This week’s installment comes from Amar Ediriwira, the creative director of Boiler Room. From Berlin to Tokyo, the London-based DJ has nightlife in the palm of his hands, hosting hitmakers like Charli XCX and Bambii at Amnesia Ibiza and El Pueblo de Los Angeles. To get us through another Fashion Week, Ediriwira took the time to make us a playlist filled with gems from Paris Hilton and George Michael to Radiohead and Janet Jackson. But before we pressed play, we subjected him to our Sound Advice questionnaire, in which where he professed his love for dancing in Ubers and played “fuck, marry, kill” with New York City venues.

Where do you dance? In the Uber.

Who do you trust most with the aux? The Uber driver.

Which Boiler Room set do you have on repeat?  Grimes, Ibiza.

Fuck, Marry Kill: NYC venues? Fuck Paragon, Marry WSA, Kill Le Bain.

How do you pregame? An antihistamine and two shots of tequila. Then I throw some ketamine over my shoulder.

Sunglasses inside: yes or no? Yes, and my coat’s not coming off either.

Who’s the best dancer you know? Pina Bausch.

Name your favorite artist no one knows about: Me, I am an incredibly slept-on flautist.

What’s the song of the season? “Clocks.”

What’s a music taste red flag? Coldplay.

Best party flyer you’ve seen? Boiler Room Pizza Slime.

What does your notes app look like? It’s one extremely long list of enemies.

All-time favorite runway soundtrack?  Tiësto 2004 Athens Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

Name three things you need to get you from the show to the afterparty: My gays, my theys and an Uber chopper.

Favorite front-row sighting? It’s a tie between Pilaf and Tinkerbell.
