Casting Call: Carson The Magnificent
In which we suggest who would star in the next big adaptation, remake, or historical film.
For a figure who, to say the very least, has become ingrained in American popular culture, Johnny Carson’s off-screen life is still a mystery. Fortunately for us, a new Johnny Carson biopic is in the works to shed some light on The Tonight Show host. With assistance from Johnny Carson’s estate, the film will be based on Bill Zehme’s upcoming biography, Carson The Magnificent: An Intimate Portrait. We have high hopes for the film: Zehme was the only journalist granted the privilege of speaking with Carson following his retirement and has also written about Johnny’s late night successors, Jay Leno and David Letterman. John McLaughlin, writer of Hitchcock and Black Swan, is signed on to write the script, and Tom Thayer, who also worked on Hitchcock, is signed on to produce. Casting for the film has yet to begin, but heeeeeeeeerrre’s a few ideas.
