Best Supporting Actor: Kenneth Branagh
The 2012 Oscars are fast upon us! Among the Best Supporting Actor hopefuls is Kenneth Branagh, nominated for his role in My Week with Marilyn. Branagh is probably equally famous for his work as a director—he received a Best Director Oscar nomination in 1990 for Henry V—but as Branagh told us way back in November of 1994, he never intended to direct:
“[I’ve directed five films, but] I didn’t expect that to be the case. I am genuinely surprised by it. I know Frankenstein [1994] has squeezed the last bit out of me for a while.”
As Branagh has since directed another nine films, the most recent of which being 2011’s Thor, you should take this quote with a grain of salt. Click here to read the full interview.
