“That’s My Bear”: Julianne Moore and Jools Lebron Review Bottega Veneta SS25
SATURDAY 8 PM SEPTEMBER 21, 2024 MILAN
This past Saturday in Milan, Mathieu Blazy made the runway his playground for the Bottega Veneta SS25 show. After a killer front row, where guests were seated on stuffed animal-shaped leather beanbags, they let the pompom hats and fun silhouettes take them on a coming-of-age story for the Italian fashion house. Post-show, we grabbed Julianne Moore and demure icon Jools Lebron to to check in with their inner child.

MEL OTTENBERG: I haven’t smoked a cigarette in almost four years, but the matches made me want to smoke. Do you like smoking?
JULIANNE MOORE: I did a long time ago, but not anymore.
OTTENBERG: What was your favorite?
MOORE: Marlboro Lights.
OTTENBERG: Me too. R.I.P. Any favorites from the show tonight?
MOORE: I thought the show was deeply romantic. I got very emotional at one point. It was an elevation of the everyday. You know?
OTTENBERG: Yeah.
MOORE: The thing that really got to me were the plastic bags. People coming home from work, wearing a coat, and carrying the plastic bag and their backpack. It’s wonderful because it allows you to see yourself in it.
OTTENBERG: Yeah. And the matches at the end. What are we wearing, dark brown?
MOORE: This is kind of burgundy. This is chocolate.
OTTENBERG: Oh, yeah. Is your tank leather, too?
MOORE: No. My tank is actually fabric, which is good, because it’s hot in here. Also, I got to sit on my favorite animal.
OTTENBERG: Is that yours?
MOORE: That’s my bear.
OTTENBERG: Wow, wow, wow.
MOORE: Not only did I get a bear, but I got a great color bear. It’s a great brown.
OTTENBERG: I gotta say, I want my freaking bear.
MOORE: I want my bear, too.
OTTENBERG: The mouse is good, too. I didn’t see the mouse.
MOORE: The mouse is very good.
OTTENBERG: But it isn’t right for New York. It’s too close to home.
MOORE: We have plenty of those in real life. Will you get a picture of me in the bear chair?
OTTENBERG: You look great in this bear chair. You are perfect.
JOOLS LEBRON: In Bottega terms, being demure is keeping it very luxurious. Very one-of-a-kind.
OTTENBERG: Oh, yes.
LEBRON: Very elegant. Very on theme. You see how they do a theme? They’re not crazy like these other girls.
OTTENBERG: Yeah.
LEBRON: They keep it in check.
OTTENBERG: What are you wearing today, baby?
LEBRON: All Bottega, Bottega, Bottega. Custom Bottega, at that. Very demure.
OTTENBERG: Jools, do you love the queens as much as the queens love you?
LEBRON: The queens live for me, and I live for the queens.
