“This Is My First Fashion Show!”: Ollie Muhl Takes Us Inside Thom Browne FW25

For several seasons running, Thom Browne has closed New York Fashion Week with a characteristically ornate presentation at The Shed. This year, the theme was full-fledged avian paradise. With some 2,000 origami birds suspended in mid-air, the designer sent fine tweeds, tailored suits, and chunky knits down the runway, some embroidered with herons and magpies. Once the last bird had flown, our editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg found TikTok sensation Ollie Muhl, decked out in head-to-toe Thom Browne for his very first fashion show.

MEL OTTENBERG: Hey Ollie, what’s up?

OLLIE MUHL: What’s going on?

OTTENBERG: I’ve never seen you at a fashion show before.

MUHL: This is my first fashion show, actually.

OTTENBERG: Oh, wow.

MUHL: What an honor to be here for my first fashion show.

OTTENBERG: I love it.

MUHL: It’s incredible.

OTTENBERG: Let’s see the look.

MUHL: I’ve got a navy blue suit on today and it fits me perfectly, so I’m looking good and I’m feeling good.

OTTENBERG: I really liked the suiting and the tiny little argyle cardigans and the shirts with the stripey ties. You should wear a super skin-tight little cardigan sweater. What do you think?

MUHL: Yeah, I think I would like it.

OTTENBERG: Or super hot shorts.

MUHL: I would love the hot shorts.  Some short-shorts. And I love those leggings that went over the shoes. That was beautiful.

OTTENBERG: Good to see you.

MUHL: Good to see you, Mel.
