“Do You Love a Cat Eye?”: Taylore and Skinny Watch Celine Summer ’25
SUNDAY 10:03 AM SEPTEMBER 29, 2024 NEW YORK
While our fashion contributors pound the Parisian sidewalks, our senior editor Taylore Scarabelli and her Sphynx cat, Skinny, enjoy a leisurely Sunday morning watching the sixties-inspired Celine Summer ’25 show from her sofa in New York City.

TAYLORE SCARABELLI: It’s a rainy Sunday morning in New York and we’re watching the Celine Summer ’25 show on YouTube—me and my cat, Skinny. What do you think, Skinny? Do you love a cat eye?
SKINNY: [Silence]
SCARABELLI: The Velvet Underground soundtrack is so romantic. [Sings] Everybody knows, the things she doesn’t need, she’s just a little tease.
SKINNY: [Get’s up and readjusts her position on Taylore’s lap]
SCARABELLI: That’s Lila Moss, I met her after a show in London. I think she and I have a similar taste in clothes. No one is doing an empire waist like this. This little dress with the gingham? This is a wearable collection, Skinny. This is for a girl who looks good but she’s really bad.
SKINNY: [Silence]
SCARABELLI: I’ve seen a lot of people doing a ’90s does ’60s revival in 2024, if that makes sense. But this feels like something different. The a-line cuts, there’s something more authentic, something a little more rock ‘n roll.
SKINNY: [Silence]
SCARABELLI: And you see it in the jewelry, the chandelier earrings. Very Edie Sedgwick.
SKINNY: [Silence]
SCARABELLI: I was thinking of keeping my hair short with a thicker fringe at the front, a little early-aughts electro vibe, but maybe I should just get a little blonde wig like these girls instead.
SKINNY: [Yawns]
SCARABELLI: There’s the bad girl with the mini dress and then there’s her counterpart who snuck into her mom’s closet and stole her most fabulous matching sequin set. She even went rummaging through her jewelry. There’s a sense of rebellion even in these more classic looks. And all the beading, why not?
SKINNY: [Silence]
SCARABELLI: What do you think, kitty cat? Oh here’s the Patti Smith-type. She’s in menswear tailored for the Celine woman. Isn’t that something? But it’s really all about the empire waist moments for me. [Sings] She’s just a little teeassee.
