Bottle Service: Glamour Addict

Feminism be damned, there was always one fantasy girl babe I wanted to be: a Robert Palmer girl. As vampy, ultimately powerless “band” members “Addicted to Love” in Palmer’s videos, four anonymous women oozed sex appeal from their shellacked-back hair, and rocked a form-fitting black dress like no other. These girls swayed lethargically while they mimed accompaniment and worshipped and ignored Palmer, but really they were addicted to glamour: all turned-out with 80s excess, eye shadow up to the brows, and red lips so glossy they dripped.

More recently, this all-or-nothing approach to makeup seemed to be break all kinds of beauty rules, as makeup artists recommended we “focus on one feature.” But circa the fall runway shows, full-on glam is back. At Marc Jacobs and Gucci, models were painted to look like they slinked straight out of the video for “Simply Irresistible.” video. Channel your inner Robert Palmer girl and rock out with red lips and dramatic eyes. To avoid looking like you’re playing dress-up, for lips, try Duwop’s Private Red, a red lipstick that morphs into your own perfect red shade, and for eyes, try Chanel’s Eye Gloss, a quartet of cream shadows that you can wear sheer, or slick on thick for more intense blasé.
