“It’s So Diet Pepsi”: Addison Rae, Camila Cabello and Alix Earle on Miu Miu SS25

TUESDAY 4:28 PM OCTOBER 1, 2024 PARIS

On the last day of fashion month, every it-girl in town flocked to a bureaucratic building across from the Eiffel Tower, where Miuccia Prada presented Miu Miu SS25 to a very expectant public. Cheeky sportswear, bare panties, stacked belts, and high socks paraded down the runway, which also included cameos by a couple of all-time style icons: Willem Dafoe and Alexa Chung. Afterwards, our Editor-in-Chief gathered a who’s who of girlies—including Addison Rae, Alix Earle, Camila Cabello, and Petra Collins—to talk pasta and peep-toes.

ADDISON RAE

 

MEL OTTENBERG: Hey, who did your make up? 

ADDISON RAE: Pat [McGrath]. 

OTTENBERG: Oh, cool. 

RAE: One word: Pat. 

OTTENBERG: I love the polka dots. 

RAE: Me too. It’s so “Diet Pepsi.”

OTTENBERG: It’s very “Diet Pepsi.” It’s very Americana. Let’s see the shoe. Are you a size 37? 

RAE: 38, but these are a 37. Wait, how did you know that? 

OTTENBERG: I don’t know. It’s weird, ’cause I looked at Cardi B’s foot the other day and I said, “Are you a 36?” And she said, “Yeah.” 

RAE: Wait, I wanna meet Cardi B! What the hell, Mel!?

OTTENBERG: What size is my foot? 

RAE: 41. 

OTTENBERG: No, it’s like a 48. 

RAE: Wait you’re a 13?! You know what that means. 

OTTENBERG: [Laughs] Addison Rae, everybody. 

RAE: I’m obsessed. 

OTTENBERG: I’m obsessed too. Is this your first show?

RAE: No, but actually, my first ever fashion thing was with Miu Miu when it was on Zoom. It was their virtual show. 

OTTENBERG: Oh, wow, wow, wow. Are you feeling like you’re on L.A. time right now? Or Paris time? 

RAE: Well, you know what’s funny? I don’t know where I am. [Laughs] Honestly, I can’t remember anything. 

OTTENBERG: I can’t either. 

RAE: What’s your favorite pasta you’ve ever had? 

OTTENBERG: Pasta? It’s at this place called Langosteria, this bistro in Milan. I just had it last week. I don’t know what kind of pasta it is but they have it with sea bass and it’s amazing. 

RAE: Inside? Like a ravioli?  

OTTENBERG: No. It’s like some wide noodle with a hole in it. It’s not stuffed, it’s just like the sauce has sea bass. It’s really the best. What about you, best pasta ever? 

RAE: See, this is the type of thing I’m thinking about. And then I’m like, “Why don’t I remember anything?” [Laughs] I don’t know and I don’t really care, because I like all pasta. 

OTTENBERG: Dara, do you have a favorite look for the Miu Miu show today? 

DARA: Oh my god. I can’t process it. I love the peep-toe heels and I want them in every color. The purple one, especially.

OTTENBERG: Addison is really into that one look, too.

RAE: This is my favorite look because aqua will be be very big in fashion next year. I posted them on my [Instagram] story. The next big thing in fashion is peep-toes. 

OTTENBERG: I really love the show, but I’m gonna go with Willem Dafoe’s look because he’s my favorite ever. But obviously, I like all the ladies clothes.

DARA: For me, it was Alexa Chung.

OTTENBERG: You were getting full-body chills.

DARA: I gagged when Alexa Chung came out.

RAE: When she followed me on Instagram, I screamed.

DARA: That’s the style icon of all style icons.

CAMILA CABELLO

 

OTTENBERG: What’s up? You look great.

CABELLO: Thank you.

OTTENBERG: I feel like Miu Miu works for the petite girl.

CABELLO: Oh my God. Miu Miu totally works for the petite girl. I also feel like my personal style is kind of preppy. Like, kind of sophisticated, chic, femme.

DARA: This is your day-to-day vibe.

CABELLO: Honestly, it really is.

OTTENBERG: What do you want to wear the most from this show? I feel like there’s a lot for you.

CABELLO: I really like the sleeves. I like the leg sleeves with the heels.

DARA: The shoes.

CABELLO: Yeah, I really love the shoes with the leg sleeve. That’s my favorite. And there was this one dress with different shades of blue in it: baby blue, and the navy blue somewhere at the end. I really like that.

OTTENBERG: Hey, Alix Earle. What did you think of the Miu Miu show today?

ALIX EARLE: I loved the show. I’m a big fan of Miu Miu. I thought there was a very 70’s vibe to the collection, which was fun, groovy, funky. I loved all the skirts and embellishments. Miu Miu does a great job with the embellishments, so I’m a fan. 

OTTENBERG: Are you more of a swimwear Miu Miu girl today or  a leather jacket Miu Miu girl or a funky print Miu Miu girl?

EARLE: I’ve been into the jacket vibe. Just this past week, I got a big plaid jacket. I live in Miami, so I don’t know where I’m wearing that, but I’ve worn it in Paris. 

OTTENBERG: Can I get a little 360, please?

EARLE: [Spins]

OTTENBERG: Petra, what was your favorite look today?

PETRA COLLINS: That was really hard to choose, because that show was so hot and sexy. I think this is my favorite look because it’s so perverted. It’s like an 80’s waitress dress, kind of an updated version of the nurse dress with the sexy, slutty peep-toes. I love the like gross green-colored bag with the pink, the sunglasses. It’s like she just got off her shift and she’s going out and she’s a sexy little pervert. This is very, very Lotta.
