Two Days in Sin City: The DJ Zack Bia Takes Interview to Vegas

Zack Bia at the UFC fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.

The term ‘multi-hyphenate’ is thrown a lot these days, but few of today’s creatives live up to the fanfare. One candidate for the title, however, is Zack Bia. At 25 years old, the DJ, Instagram darling, entrepreneur, and all-around influencer already had his fingers in a lot of pies. But during the 2020 lockdowns, the Los Angeles-based entertainer’s virtual DJ sets accrued a cult following that promptly launched him into a new echelon of mainstream notoriety. Now, the former club kid is a newly-minted It Boy: playing sold-out live shows across the world and making appearances in the Instagram feeds of his mega-famous friends. As nightlife reemerges from hibernation, Bia takes Interview along for the ride during the inaugural weekend of his brand new residency at Wynn Las Vegas. From a pit stop at a much-talked-about UFC match to a run-in with Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, Zack Bia shows us how it’s done in Sin City.  —FRED SAHAI

Las Vegas, Nevada… My first set ever. 4,000 people, the vision was clear but the night was a blur.

I don’t believe in the old mantra that what happens in Vegas stays there, which is why we went and upgraded the camera for day two. Tested out the flash and picked up our favorite chicken on the way.

Like any Vegas trip, the only expected thing is the unexpected… Somehow we ended up at the biggest UFC fight of the decade, and luckily my best friend Gilligyn, who happens to be a fanatic of the sport, was along for the ride.

To build on the unexpectedness, I somehow ended up in the middle of the octagon, after one of the most unlikely outcomes in fight history.

It’s time for the big opening, and the boys are in town. That’s my business partner at Field Trip Records, James Canton and our lawyer, John Ingram. So, the real ones are definitely in the building.

How else to get the night going than some tequila and lovely friends… Especially from the newly-crowned tequila queen herself.

———

Lots of beautiful people in attendance. Colson is like a chameleon, every time I see him his hair is a fully different length.

JB stunned us with a full intimate show in our new favorite venue. It really feels like Delilah but over-the-top in the best way possible. Gold accents and all the Vegas touches one might expect from a place Frank Sinatra would’ve liked to spend time. Nothing suits that better than an impromptu performance from Justin and his new protege Kid Laroi (Funny story: KL DMed me in 2019 saying, “you should probably follow me, because I’m going to blow up soon.” How’s that for full circle?). Anyways…

Thanks to those guys for warming up the room for me, and luckily I was accompanied during my set by my new keyboard player…

What better way to end the trip than to watch Baker Mayfield and John Terzian themselve push our luggage carts as we scrambled to get out of the desert on any flight we could find? 117 degree weather and two airports later, two days that felt like one long, wonderful month, finally came to an end.
