The gay civil rights movement has made dramatic strides in 2010 with the overturning of Proposition 8 in California and the recent senatorial debate over “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” But the larger battle has only just begun. Here is a look at a few of the activists, organizers, and political voices on the front lines of the fight to secure equal rights for all citizens. Being gay in America is sadly still very dangerous—but, as these tireless men and women know, submitting to second class status is deadly.
