Joshua David and Robert Hammond: Friends of the Highline
Joshua David and Robert Hammond are the co-founders of Friends of the Highline, the non-profit group responsible for The High Line park in New York City. The High Line was built in 1934 as an elevated rail line for freight trains that previously ran along the city’s streets. The last train ran along the line in 1980, and plans were made to destroy the entire structure. Friends of the Highline successfully saved the structure and turned it into a remarkable public park, now one of New York City’s premiere destinations for tourists and locals alike.
